Kerala is a feast for the senses. Abundant nature with treasures of aromatic spices and massive tea plantations hidden behind lush greenery of Western Ghats create a feeling of harmony and unity. Natural beauty, cultural diversity, and richness cause Kerala to be named by its people a God’s own country. You will see juicy colours, smell aromas of world known spices, feel the fresh Ocean breeze and reach inner peace after Ayurvedic treatments.

This itinerary takes you through lush natural habitats of this abundant region. It includes trekking through valleys of tea and aromatic spice plantations, discovering wildlife and relaxing on the boat floating through the maze of unique backwaters. A warm welcome awaits you at Cochin airport. Nomaday representative will take you to your accommodation in where you can take some rest. Overnight stay in a heritage hotel.

In the morning departure to Munnar – this former hill station, nestled among tranquil tea plantations offers scenic views, contact with pristine nature, crisp air and adventurous activities.

On the way there visit scenic Valara Falls, Cheeyappara waterfalls, have an elephant ride in plantation, enjoy rubber, pepper, cardamom and tea plantations and thick forests. All you need is comfortable shoes, warm clothes (it’s one of the highest tea- growing estates), camera and peace of mind. Mountain crisp air is never enough.

After breakfast start an active day. A full day of sightseeing, some trekking, and boating around Mattupetty lake and dam. Later on take a tour to the Eravikulam National Park, natural habitat for Indian wild rare Nilgiri Tahr, other endemic species, and place with breathtaking views. After a full day of wandering in nature, you will surely enjoy a delicious meal made from local ingredients and famous aromatic spices. Relax and enjoy evening in Munnar.

A few hour drive will get you to the administrative and cultural hub of Tamil Nadu. Visiting Madurai will be an urban touch on your rather tranquil and nature following itinerary. It’s a vibrant city with a very interesting history reaching back to the 4th century BC. After checking into hotel and lunch you can admire a light and sound show in the Thirumalay Nayak Palace.

Full day of sightseeing and wandering through city’s bustling streets and markets. You will visit the symbol of Madurai – massive Sri Meenakshi Temple complex and surroundings. In the evening there is a special night ceremony in that temple not to be missed.

Departing in the morning you will get into a more wild area: the Western Ghats with Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Here you will discover the jungle and its various inhabitants such as wild elephants, bisons, wild boars, sambars and if you are lucky majestic tigers! Camera with the full battery is a must.

If you still have energy for activities then in the evening enjoy traditional dance show – Kathakali. Before the unusual performance itself, you will get to see the elaborated make up the creation process.

Overnight in Periyar.

Next destination is a gateway to the mysterious maze of canals, islands and paddy fields – the backwaters. After arrival, enjoy the walks on the bank of Vambanad Lake and visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Overnight in Kumarakom resort.

After check out you will board your new temporary house and mean of transportation - boathouse! This is how you discover and admire unique backwaters of Kerala. Fresh meals (lunch and dinner) will be prepared on the boat while slowly following the flow of water. From the cozy deck of your private boat, get the close up of lush jungle and everyday life having its own slow cycle there. Watch exotic birds and jungle mysterious creatures living in harmony with peaceful local people. Overnight stay on the houseboat.

From the houseboat experience you will be driven to a small paradise at the end of your active holidays. Marari beach is nestled north from Alleppey and here you will enjoy the tranquil ambiance, some rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage, and mouth-watering meals. Overnight in a beach resort.

Leaving Marari and heading back to Cochin. Do some sightseeing and last shopping in this charming city. With its interesting past, nowadays it’s a collection of islands and districts with a distinct personality. From the colonial trading post of Fort Cochin and concrete towers of Ernakulam, to the sandy beaches of Vypeen Island. In the evening board your flight for onward journey.
