The happy hippie’s enclave and snow sanctuary- Manali offers rich cultural and spiritual experience: wake up in the morning with a cup of chai and meditate in the fresh Himalayan air…

Why « From mountains to temples »?

The three rules of mountaineering say: “It’s always further than it looks. It’s always taller than it looks. And it’s always harder than it looks… Manali and Dharamshala open you a window to unseen Himalayas! After relaxing days,it is time for the cultural marvel-golden temple in Amritsar which survived violent history: The temple was built in a simple way, without many decorations…In the meantime Mughals, Afghans and the Indian Army attacked it in the 19th century… For many years the temple was ‘’sad’’ and forgotten by everybody… Fortunately Maharaja Ranjit Singh took finally care of the temple from all his heart: he covered the temple with gold coating, implemented marble panels and fixed the façade with metal…So, how does the temple looks nowadays?

Why « Say NO to civilisation »?

If you face the mountain, you have to choose: you climb or you stay and make it your home...Your trip in Manali starts with cultural sightseeing: Nagar fort and Hidimba Devi temple. Keep close to the nature’s arms: breathe clear air, climb a mountain and spend few days in forest...It keeps your spirit clean! Discover the waterfalls which you can reach by climbing to the Rahtag Pass situated at an altitude of 2501 meters...

Did you ever start your day with a bath in hot springs? Let the dream come true! Jump into Maricaran’s hot springs, let your body feel hot vibes and get energy for the rest of the day! Later on, a long trek in Kullu valley is waiting for you... You will cross small villages, temples and the most important-breathtaking nature of the mountains and forests.

Destination of the day- Salang Valey (snow point). Have a seat somewhere in the valley and observe how the sky turns to a purple orange light-it makes you forget your worries...

Discover Dharamshala on horseback or by bike (according to preference). The story of Dharamshala is heart shaking: over 80 thousand Tibetans, led by their religious leader Dalai Lama, escaped from the Chinese occupation and established a refugee community in Dharamsala. Today it will be a pleasure for you to discover the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet which contains a huge meditation hall including some beautiful statues. Walk in the monastery of the Dalai Lama located in front of his private residence. If you are lucky, you might even meet him!

Dharamsala is famous for its natural resources, so that’s why you will cross local villages today and reach the Bhagsu waterfall. Be sure you are prepared for a challenge: wear good shoes, carry water, extra vest and enjoy the trek to Triund hill (5-6h trek). You will be surrounded by the first peaks of the Himalayas and a stunning view over the plains and jungle...’’Great things are done when man and mountain meet’’-William Blake.

Let’s visit the Golden temple today! It is a central place of worship for the Sikhs which is based on equality of all humans and rejects discrimination due to caste, the Creed, and gender. Enjoy the peaceful walk around the temple and have typical temple food inside! Every day countless people are going there to pray and clean their souls: it is possible that you will end up eating or sitting next to a famous person, celebrity or the president- all people in Sikh religion are equal and higher class is not treated better than lower class or poor person. If in your opinion Taj Mahal is worth to be visited, then for sure you should visit the Golden temple which will impress you that much that you will say in the end of your trip that it is the best “peace and holiness” sanctuary of India. In the afternoon, approach to the Pakistan border (Wagah Border) and observe the unseen performance: Change of guards. Before the parade starts, Indian womenfolk are allowed to dance (a-la Bollywood style) on popular patriotic songs and soldiers are performing for a public. The show is full of colours, happy people and dances… Feel free to move your bones and adjust to the rhythms of the music! Come back to Chandigarh.

Why not to stay longer in Manali and/or Dharamsha (Mc Leod Ganj)? We strongly recommend spending few days longer for full relaxation and discovery of the region. You can trek, fish, kayak, swim and much more! Extend your holidays!
