SPIRITUAL CONNOISEUR (3 DAYS)

Nasik is widely known as a pilgrimage site, a town somehow confused between past and present having messy typical streets full of shops, restaurants and services is standing on one of the holiest rivers of the Deccan – Godavari. City is peppered with numerous temples and bathing ghats. It gets its name from the Hindu epic Ramayana. It is in Nasik where Lord Rama and his wife Sita were exiled and where Lakshmana hacked off the nose (NASIKA) of Ravana’s sister. Nasik is one of the holy cities where mammoth Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. It is the largest religious congregation on Earth and the closest one is already in 2015! After the pilgrimage style visit you will see a completely different face of region – a valley of vineyards and a fast growing modern industry of wine making. We suggest two days of pleasant activities related to wine making process learning, wine tasting and relaxation in the nature.

Few hours drive or train jorney from Mumbai brings you to the holy city Nasik. Get yourself comfortable in the hotel and start the discovery of city’s spiritual sites. Visit the holy bathing tank Rammkund on the Godavari banks. The river just like Ganges is believed to provide moksha ( soul liberation) for those whose ashes are immersed here. Observe the ceremonies and rituals of constantly filing devotees. Among other numerous temples is Kala Rama, Sundar Naryan Temple and Muktidham Temple. Nasik is estimated to have around 2000 temples….

In the morning visit the riverside market, colorful and much alive is a great place to see the real every day life of locals. Later that day proceed to the valleys surrounding Nasik to discover the new profile of the city – the vineyards. In famous Sula winery you can find out about the intricate process of wine making during a guided tour followed by wine tasting. That pleasant activity surely will set you in a jolly mood! Sustain it with the next wine tasting and relaxed late lunch with splendid view of dam lake and vineyards in York winery. After all the swirling, smelling, sipping, slurping, spitting and of course enjoying you will spend evening indulging yourself with even more wine based activities. Try the SPA therapy based on wine & grape oil seed in the resort next to Sula winery. Overnight stay in the villa.

You can continue lazing around in the resort surrounded by greenery at the pool or actively discover the area on a bicycle. There are also few more wineries you can visit if you wish so. It’s a matter of your preference whether to keep this day for a complete relaxation or for more activities. In the evening return to Mumbai.
